Student Council
The Student Council consists of 10 elected students from grades 6-8 who qualify to assume office and act as commissioners in several areas of school activities.
The role of the student government is that of leadership and responsibility. Faculty members act as moderators; they meet with the students on a regular basis and keep the faculty informed of activities. The Student Council fundraises for several Catholic charities, plans three annual spirit weeks, and orchestrates Catholic Schools Week with the Administration.
We value and implement community-building activities, both social and spiritual, between and among all members of our learning community.
Notre Dame Hallmark #6
The Student Council at St. John Notre Dame aims to display for students and the wider community what this means. As a part of their service ministry, the club selects a goal to fundraise for. In the 2022-23 year, the club chose to fundraise for the Notre Dame Boulangerie, a bakery in Haiti operated by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur that benefits the local community in a variety of practical ways.
From August until May, the Student Council work as a team to brainstorm and execute fundraisers such as baked goods and ice cream sales, school gear sales, and seasonally-themed competitions. The club was able to raise $6,000 for the Boulangerie - the most money the Student Council has ever raised for their goal. As St. Julie Billiart simply put it, “Oh! How Good is the Good God!”
