Robotics

Junior Robotics Club

Jr. Robotics is available after school for 1st through 5th grade students. Depending on the grade level, students program Dash and Dot, Ozobot Evo and Intelino Smart Train.  They design solutions for real-world science and technology challenges.  1st and 2nd grade students meet January until Easter break and 3rd through 5th grade meet September - December.

Middle School Robotics Club

Middle school robotics hosts 6-8th grade students in a 12 week long program where participants create an arena from legos and then build robots to compete on that arena. Mostly based off of F.I.R.S.T. Lego League (FLL) this group uses Lego Technic bricks and Lego's Spike Prime base to create robots of their own design. Students use block and python programming to automate their robots and accomplish tasks in their lego arena. The season generally lasts from September - January.

Hydrogen Grand Prix Team (H2GP Team)

SJND has the privilege of coaching 2 Toyota sponsored teams for the International Hydrogen Grand Prix Competition.  Each team of 5 students receives an RC car kit and Hydrogen fuel cells that they use to build a hydrogen powered car and race against other middle and high school teams.  7th and 8th graders who are interested in the club submit an essay on Google Classroom to be considered for this competitive team. The season generally lasts from October - March.
